Corner Stamps
These are a collection of designs inspired by the “stamps” you would see in the corner on Marvel Comics covers. The purpose of each design is to be added onto a shirt to wear for the premiere of their respective film. These designs are meant to fit into the guidelines of the “comic stamp” style, yet should be unique and accurate to the film’s nature.
“Comics are often referred to as an art form, but they are also deeply tied to the world of design.”
- Liz Stinson
A look behind the curtain.
In this project, I must capture the individual characters’ essence while staying true to the film's tone. I draw inspiration from Marvel’s comic corner stamps and other artworks to find a balance that fits the design well. The corner stamps start in Procreate on the iPad. A lot of sketching out is done here, as well as the brainstorming phase. I then get as much done on the iPad as possible as these tend to be more “digital art/drawing” based. After getting the bones of the design down, I take it over to Adobe Illustrator on the Mac and vectorize the artwork. Any modifications or adjustments are also made here. I typically will finalize the artwork here if it doesn’t require further changes. If they need more work, it’s taken to Adobe Photoshop to fine-tune and finish.
This is not an official collection or collaboration in any way, shape, or form. I do not hold any rights to any of the characters shown or the Marvel Comics logo; all rights belong to Marvel Comics. This is purely for “fan art” purposes and is not for sale or distribution. All artwork, aside from the Marvel Comics logo, Marvel Studios logo, any Marvel Studios film logo, and the Comics Code Authority logo, are original pieces created by Cody Brenner.
