Hey, I’m Cody!

I’m a Graphic Designer, Photographer & Visual Communicator.

Welcome to my portfolio.

NISOD Conference Cover

In 2019, I won the NISOD Student Graphic Design Contest, and my design was selected for the cover and branding of the International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence. I aimed to represent Texas, incorporate technology, and create a playful, three-dimensional look using an isometric style. After sketching the design in Procreate, I refined and enhanced it in Illustrator by adding colors, gradients, drop shadows, and conference details.

MCU Blu-Ray Covers

As part of my personal endeavors, I undertook the task of crafting slipcovers for my cherished collection of Marvel Cinematic Universe Blu-Rays. With a vision to achieve a cohesive, minimalistic, and visually captivating aesthetic, I aimed to retain the distinctiveness of each film while ensuring a harmonious overall design.

Future Music Educators Logo

I was approached by the director of Tyler Junior College's band to design a logo for their Future Music Educators program, which encompasses various music education fields. The logo incorporates Apache tribal symbols, representing the commitment to music education, alongside musical notes and marks, while maintaining a vibrant, hand-drawn aesthetic reminiscent of historical drawings and contemporary sheet music illustrations, culminating in an arrowhead symbolizing strength and progress.

Tyler Civic Chorale Logo

The Tyler Civic Chorale, a longstanding presence in the Tyler, TX music scene, contacted me to design a modern logo that would embody the choir and its connection to the city. By incorporating a rose, symbolizing both adoration and Tyler's history as "The Rose Capital of the World," the logo captures the choir's elegance and its musical essence, subtly represented by the five lines within the rose's shading, reminiscent of a music staff.

Marvel Corner Stamps

These designs draw inspiration from Marvel Comics' corner stamps and are intended to be worn on shirts during the premieres of their respective films. Each design aims to capture the essence of the individual characters while adhering to the comic stamp style guidelines, combining the initial sketching and brainstorming in Procreate on the iPad, vectorizing and making adjustments in Adobe Illustrator on the Mac, and finalizing the artwork in Adobe Photoshop if needed.

Playing Cards

Driven by my passion for playing cards, I embarked on the creation of my own unique deck, aiming for a minimal yet detailed, flashy yet timeless design. Inspired by the iconic Bicycle Deck and subtle references to the Tarot Deck, these eye-catching cards feature carefully crafted details, such as objects and flowers held by the face cards, while maintaining a minimalistic aesthetic. The process involved initial sketches in Procreate, followed by vectorization and final adjustments in Illustrator on the Mac, resulting in a distinctive radial and diagonal design that adds a fresh touch to a familiar concept.
